26 Grains will be taken over by a host of guest chefs every weekend throughout August as they partner with Charlie’s, a pop-up restaurant concept founded by bar entrepreneur Charlie Westover. Charlie’s previous Walthamstow-based pop-up achieved 7th place in TimeOut’s Best Bars In London list.

Inspired by European al fresco dining, 26 Grains x Charlie’s puts a London spin on aperitif culture. Each weekend there will be a short drinks menu, consisting of a few wines, a handful of aperitif options, and 2 or 3 cocktails – perfect for enjoying in the picturesque setting of Neal’s Yard.

The immersive dining experience will focus on a different style of cuisine each week, with an expert chef on hand to talk guests through what is being served  – as well as the stories behind their dishes!

The Chefs:

4th-6th August: Huw Lewis and Arthur Boxall

For opening weekend, chef’s from St JOHN restaurant, Huw Lewis and Arthur Boxall will be taking charge of 26 Grains with a pescatarian focussed menu. Their specialist menu will feature whole crab with nduja, fried courgette flowers, goat’s curd, and salsa verde.

11th-13th August: Alex Szrok,

Ex-Head of Pastry at St JOHN restaurant, Alex Szrok, will take up residence in 26 Grains for the weekend. His intriguing menu plays on unconventional flavour combinations – such as marmite and cheese palmiers, pickled mussels on rye, and crab croque madame.

18th-20th August: Lucy Timm

Named one to watch, ex-Head Chef at Royale and current Head of Food at 26 Grains, Lucy Timm, will take over the kitchen for the weekend. Her menu is currently TBC, but keep an eye out for an update as it is bound to impress!

25th-27th August: Steve Darou

For the last weekend of the takeover, Head Chef at the Michelin-starred St JOHN restaurant, Steve Darou, will be gracing guests with his expert ways in the kitchen. Steve’s menu is currently TBC but will be inspired by his home country Canada. Get ready for tasty possibilities of Canadian pie, Montreal steak, tomato, and razor clam caesars, and rye and ginger maple floats.
