My Seven Dials

Dawn Thomas, General Manager At The Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel, Shares Her Slice Of Seven Dials

February 2012

This week we caught up with Dawn Thomas, General Manager at the Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel, where she gave us her ‘Slice of Seven Dials'.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN SEVEN DIALS TO SHOP?

I love Cath Kidston on Shelton Street. It’s fantastic for finding something quirky and different, especially with its vintage inspired chintz fabrics. I love the fact that the products are so fresh and colourful - perfect for brightening up any home! It also has some wonderful vintage jewellery plus some great accessories for kids. My 3-year-old daughter loves it.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE EATERY OR WATERING HOLE IN SEVEN DIALS?

I have two favourites for two very different occasions - Hotel Chocolat’s ‘Roast & Conch’ on Monmouth Street and our very own Dial restaurant. Hotel Chocolat is ideal for a treat, now and again. It makes great hot chocolate and dangerously delicious cakes. Dial is perfect when you need something a little more substantial. It offers fantastic market-fresh British produce with an innovative take on the old Covent Garden Market’s more exotic wares. My favourite dish has to be the seared sea bass, risotto with spinach and garlic cream sauce or for something a little lighter smoked salmon fennel and coriander salad with anise dressing is perfect.

WHAT MAKES SEVEN DIALS SO SPECIAL FOR YOU?

I love mornings in Seven Dials. I take my time walking to work before the area wakes up and before the shops open. It’s great to see the whole place come alive as the day progresses. It has everything you need and has a contagious energy that gives it the most amazing atmosphere, at any time of the day.
