ALEX KATZ FROM WOLSEY SHARES HIS SLICE OF SEVEN DIALS

January 2012

This week we caught up with Alex Katz from Wolsey, where he shared his slice of Seven Dials.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN SEVEN DIALS TO SHOP?

The vintage shops located around Seven Dials have to be my favourite, such as Mint Vintage and The Vintage Showroom to name a few. I also like the range of independent retailers in the area – particularly Albam. You’re guaranteed to get your hands on some unique items, which you can’t find elsewhere in London.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE EATERY OR WATERING HOLE IN SEVEN DIALS?

Monmouth Coffee is somewhere I visit quite regularly. The coffee is great, and the shop itself is authentic, and not corporate like other coffee shops you might come across in London. The staff also reflect what the brand is trying to achieve. They also sell their own range of freshly ground coffee in-store which I like to buy, so I can enjoy the same quality coffee at home.

WHAT MAKES SEVEN DIALS SPECIAL FOR YOU?

I love the fact that Seven Dials feels like a village within London. I also find that the type of clientele is generally really friendly, making it a great place to be. Working at Wolsey is great too – being a British heritage brand and independent retailer, I feel that we really fit in with the Seven Dials area, as it’s the birthplace of British brands like Neal’s Yard Dairies, and many independent retailers.
