A Royal Affair in Seven Dials - Part 2

April 2011

With the Royal Wedding just days away, we bring you a second instalment of experiences, gifts and commemorative items to celebrate the special day in Seven Dials - from something old and something new to something borrowed and something blue.

For something ‘old’ - there's nothing more elegant or regal  than traditional afternoon tea. Share the timeless English tradition of afternoon tea with friends at The Covent Garden Hotel's Brasserie Max. Enjoy delicate sandwiches with quintessentially English fillings such as roast beef and English mustard and clotted cream scones and tarts, before raising your complimentary glass of champagne in a toast to the newly-weds. Gentlemen, if you want to look like a prince, book in for an age-old wet shave from Murdock London, where you will be treated to a traditional barber-shop experience. Or for just £65.00 indulge in  two full hours of pampering, including a shampoo and hair-cut, wet shave, beard re-shaping, manicure and shoe polish.

If you prefer something ‘new’ then head to Super Superficial and treat yourself to a Limited Edition Royal Wedding T-shirt and framed screen prints. Designed by award-winning London illustrator Louise Pomeroy, the tongue-in-cheek design, features a comical portrait of the couple, surrounded by Corgi's and the slogan "IV days off, cheers".  For more traditional memorabilia, look to Cath Kidston have launched a wide range of attractive themed products including a souvenir wedding mug, key ring and even a t-shirt to commemorate Kate & Wills' special day. Alternatively, continue the celebrations after dark, with Coco De Mer's new sensual, bridal couture including the 'Ophelia Fancy Bridal Loop Garter' and tasteful 'Ophelia Nipple Tassels'.

Be sure to ‘borrow’ some fashion inspiration from the Royals, and we don’t mean Miss Middleton. Tom Ford and Christopher Kane showcased designs with a regal theme on the catwalks this spring - borrowing inspiration from unlikely fashion icons such as Princess Anne. MINT Vintage on Earlham Street invites you to do the same, borrowing styles and designs from the past to create an on-trend look. A treasure-trove for Seven Dial shoppers and celebrities alike - MINT is a vintage shopping experience like no other. Check out MINT's window this weekend, for a rocking, regal surprise.

Finally, for your something ‘blue’ Neal’s Yard Remedies have blended their very own love potion, especially for Kate and Wills special day - the final result is an exceedingly indulgent 'Royal Romance Massage Oil', bottled in a beautiful royal blue glass bottle. This luxury massage oil emits a delicate fragrance of four organic essential oils, rose, cedarwood, bergamot and patchouli - all essential oils in soothing and relaxing the body to ensure a deep sensual experience.  Pop in store on the big day and you will be treated to a complimentary hand and arm massage, using their new massage oil to celebrate its limited launch. The massage oil has been designed to give a deeply nourishing and moisturising experience, so caress your cares away and indulge in your own very Royal romance with loved ones this bank holiday.
