Do you own an object that won’t let you forget? Do you need to make room in your heart (and flat) for a new romance? The Tristan Bates Theatre on Earlham Street is calling upon the Seven Dials community for donations for their forthcoming Museum of Broken Relationships exhibition, which will take place between August 15th and September 4th 2011. This is a chance to become part of ‘global emotional history’ and have your personal artefact included in an award-winning exhibition.
The Tristan Bates Theatre and Museum of Broken Relationships will present an exhibition from the permanent collection of the Museum of Broken Relationships (MBR), which recently won the Kenneth Hudson Award for the most daring, innovative European museum project 2011. The exhibition will feature items from failed relationships – from the common, shared relics of love (a wedding dress and an “I Love You” teddy bear) to the unique and bizarre (a crumbling garden gnome, a cast from a broken leg) – donated to the museum by people from around the world.
In addition to the permanent collection, the theatre is looking for new objects and stories from people living, working and associated with Seven Dials who are looking to exhibit their own love legacy. These items will help form part of a multi-site experience with the Tristan Bates Theatre at the helm along with other ‘pockets’ in and around the Seven Dials estate. The more exhibits they get, the more exciting this first ever visit to the UK will be.
UK Submissions will be collected throughout June and for details of how to contribute an object to the exhibition CLICK HERE. The Tristan Bates Theatre in Seven Dials will be also accepting donations between May 30th to July 4th, from 10 am and 9pm, Monday to Saturdays.
