This year, Donmar Warehouse artistic director Michael Grandage ends his ten-year stewardship of the theatre on Earlham Street with an impressive season of big-hitting plays, kicking off with a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s epic, Pulitzer prize-winning play, Anna Christie.
Starring Ruth Wilson and Jude Law, directed by Donmar associate Rob Ashford and featuring sound design and original music by Adam Cork, Anna Christie charts one woman's longing to forget the dark secrets of her past and hope for salvation.
The play about love and forgiveness, centres on a former prostitute Anna, who is reunited with the father who sent her away 15 years earlier and sets sail in search of a new beginning.
The cast is led by Hollywood star Jude Law, whose hit movies include Sherlock Holmes, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr. Ripley. He previously worked with the Donmar Warehouse on Hamlet, for which he played the title role in both the West End and on Broadway.
Law is joined in Anna Christie by Ruth Wilson, who won the 2010 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar, and other screen credits include Luther, Small Island, The Prisoner and the TV adaptation of Jane Eyre.
The play runs from August 4th October 10th and tickets cost between £10 - £32.50.
