The Museum Of Broken Relationships Opens in Seven Dials

August 2011

The Museum of Broken Relationships opens on Monday 15th August, an exciting multi-site exhibition spanning the whole of Seven Dials area. The award-winning exhibition showcases a series of ordinary but poignant objects that each tell the story of a past relationship, donated by individuals all over the world as well as the local Seven Dials community.

Originating from Croatia, this is the first time the Museum of Broken Relationships has travelled to the UK. The highly-anticipated exhibition will span two venues, The Tristan Bates Theatre and a pop-up exhibition on 38 Earlham Street plus individual objects will also be featuring in windows of stores such as Tatty Devine, Coco de Mer and Urban Outfitters.

Throughout the three-week run, commissioned artists, theatre makers and performers will also be taking inspiration from the exhibition to create various art work, as well as a programme of performances including immersive theatre, writing workshops, dance and acting performances.

A collection of these various artistic expressions will be showcased on August 27th at the Seven Dials festival across the area, including free poetry recitals, actors performing stories of  the objects, colourful oriental dance and an exciting Guerilla Dance Project.
